Thank you for registering NUS Geography Challenge!
As the Preliminary Round of this year's competition approaches, we have sent out an email to all teachers-in-charge with the Preliminary Round Circular attached. For more information of the Preliminary Round on 28 February 2015 (Saturday), please refer to this blog post.
Overview
The Preliminary Round will comprise 2 components:
(i) Individual Round: MCQs and Structured Questions
There will be a total of 40 MCQs and 3 Structured Questions
which students have to answer. These questions are based on Geography topics,
adhering to the syllabus for iGeo (International Geography Olympiad). Sample
questions and answers for NUS Geography Challenge (NUS GC) 2014 have already been
uploaded on the NUS GC Blog.
(ii) Team Round: Application Question
Problem-based, open-ended Application Question has to be
tackled by each school team. The Application Question will be centred on the
synthesis of physical and human geographical concepts.
Results
The breakdown of scores for Preliminary Round is as follows:
i.
Individual Round (40% of total Preliminary score)
ii.
Team Round (60% of
total Preliminary score)
Based on the total scores calculated from both rounds, the
top 40 teams will qualify for the Semi-Finals (i.e. Creative Component and
Geo-Trail).
Names of schools who will proceed to the Top 40 as
semi-finalists will be announced by 28th
Feb 2015, 2359 hrs. Results will be disseminated via email, the ‘NUS
Geography Challenge’ Facebook Page
and Blog.

merit to recognise students for their individual performance:
Gold
(Top 30 students)
Silver
(Next 40 students)

(Next 50 students)

(i.e. 4 students per team = 20 students) for the Application Question will be awarded prizes. |

Reporting Time: 7.15 am (Registration ends at 8.00 am)
End Time: 3.00 pm
Venue: LT11, Faculty of Arts and Social Science, NUS
Attire: Full School Uniform

- Stationery

How to get to NUS LT11
Bus service: 96 (From Clementi MRT)
Please alight at Bus Stop 2 (Landmark: School of
Design and Environment), cross the traffic light and walk straight down slope
towards FASS and follow the path that leads to the Earth Lab. LT11 is located
to the left of Earth Lab.
Bus service: 95 (From Buona Vista MRT)
Please alight at Bus Stop 1 (Landmark: Central
Library), and take the path to the right down slope towards LT11.
Bus service: 151 (From Hougang MRT)
Please alight at Bus Stop 1 (Landmark: Central
Library), and take the path to the right down slope towards LT11.
Bus services: 10, 33, 201
Please Alight at Kent Ridge terminal. After that,
take the flight of stairs up to the bus stop directly in front of Ventus (Opp.
LT13). Cross the overhead bridge that will bring you directly to LT 11.
Internal Shuttle Bus Service: A1 (From Kent Ridge MRT)
There are NUS internal shuttle buses available to the
public. Please alight at Bus Stop 3 (Landmark: LT13), and take the path to the left
down slope towards LT13 and the Earth Lab. Turn right and walk straight to
